SOUNDSHAPER is a control interface for CDP, the sound transformation software developed for over 20 years by the COMPOSERS' DESKTOP PROJECT. CDP has a huge range of processes and tools for manipulating, creating and altering sounds to make music, many of which are not available elsewhere. ABOUT CDP
Soundshaper's sound engine, CDP, is not a real-time system: all processes alter an existing file and write a new one. But this means that on the latest machines, with cheap storage and super-fast microprocessors, a sequence of CDP processes can now be run faster than real-time!

CDP processes cover every area of sound design. Particularly innovative are those in the "spectral domain" - which alter a sound's time-varying frequency spectrum. You can also separately extract peaks in the spectrum (formants), or pitch, and manipulate or combine these characteristics of sounds in new and unusual ways. In the "time-domain" (ordinary soundfiles), CDP is very strong on granular and textural techniques, and anything which reorganizes the order of events. >>MORE ABOUT CDP

Soundshaper Pro
SOUNDSHAPER PRO (current version: 2.022 - Nov.'08) The heart of Soundshaper Pro is a kind of musical spreadsheet called the Patchgrid. Each process occupies one cell and patches (sequences) of up to ten processes per row can be saved, recalled and run with different source sounds. Any cell in the patch can be auditioned, re-edited or replaced with a different process. Soundshaper Pro includes support for CDP's new "PSOW" suite, a grain technique for vocal sounds. >>READ MORE.

Soundshaper Pro 3 now available >>DOWNLOAD
The latest version of Soundshaper Pro (3.0) is now available as a Beta-test version. This is a free upgrade for existing registered users of Soundshaper Pro only. The new program supports a patchgrid of 10 rows and 12 columns and features auto-conversion of file types.

Soundshaper Standard
SOUNDSHAPER STANDARD EDITION (1.8 - May '08) Soundshaper Standard is a free version of Soundshaper which supports the older CDP 4.5 as well as the current CDP suite (5.01), except PSOW. Soundshaper Standard lacks the visual immediacy of the Patchgrid, but still supports a chain of up to 10 processes. Files are saved as and when needed. Version 1.8 features a revised MIX page and improved parameter pages, plus support for 32-bit internal processing. >>READ MORE
